Description
A Dresden-style desk with straight sides and a curved front, supported by four cabriole legs decorated with openwork brass appliqués. The frame contains five curved drawers with a central draw and keyhole, as well as a recessed steel lock and key. The top is gently rounded on the sides, while the front repeats the drawer outline, slightly protruding beyond the furniture’s outline, with two wooden veins around the perimeter. A pull-out auxiliary top, upholstered in green cloth, extends beneath the main top. The front corners are rounded and decorated with brass appliqués in the form of plant tendrils, and similar appliqués are also found on the front legs. Pine construction, walnut veneers, brass fittings, circa 1900.
