Description
A vase with a painted scene of Napoleon Bonaparte and his retinue on the battlefield. The base on a square plan with indented arches, passing a round, slender leg into a conical belly, decorated with acanthus leaves at the bottom, and two angular handles intertwined with laurel wreaths at the top. Topped with a narrow neck, a wide spout decorated with delicate leaves on the collar. From the front, on the belly, the discussed scene with Napoleon, placed in an oval reserve surrounded by a laurel wreath and a large pink ribbon at the top.
Hand-painted majolica, France late 19th century
On the underside, a mass impression “10902 1.”
