Boulle Mantel Clock

Description
A Boulle-type mantel clock, with four round, flattened legs, decorated with numerous gilded bronze elements, closed from the front by a glass door. The front walls and the roof are covered with tortoiseshell and brass sheet marquetry, depicting plant patterns. There are four vases with flowers at the top, and four smaller ones on the roof. There are figures of women on both sides, and a carved apron under the door. In the glazed door there is a gilded bronze relief, partially polished, depicting three figures, a cupid and two muses. The clock face is engraved with floral patterns and minute numerals around the perimeter, with porcelain, enamelled plaques, Roman hour numerals and blackened hands. Mechanism with hour and half-hour striking system, steel bell bowl. The sides of the clock box are glazed with an arched finial.
Wooden structure, marquetry made of tortoiseshell and brass sheet, bronze, mechanism signed “CR” and number “333”, late 19th century.
