Description
A large Viennese style vase with the Judgment of Paris scene. On a round base, slightly wider at the bottom, there is a vase with a narrow foot, turning into a wide and slender belly, with two gilded handles on the sides in the form of birds. At the top, there is a raised lid with a marked, golden tip. From the front, in the central place of the vase, there is an oval field depicting the “Judgment of Paris”, surrounded by gilded leaves. The whole thing is navy blue with numerous gilded floral patterns interspersed with colorful flowers placed on bright fields.
Hand-decorated and gilded porcelain. Gilding worn off, lid professionally repaired.
Signed from the bottom with a cobalt sign “beehive”. A sign imitating the products of the Viennese manufactory. Probably a German Volkstedt or Hutschenreuther product from the late 19th century.
