Description

A French bronze sculpture depicting a Faunesse holding a child on her lap and Bacchus playing at their feet, the Faun and her child are girded with vine leaves, and the child offers a cup to Bacchus. In return, Bacchus, lying on a vine bed, gives him a bunch of grapes. The thyrsus, symbol of Bacchus, lies on a bed of leaves.
The figure is signed on the base “CLODION” and with the stamp of the foundry “Bronze Garanti Paris J.B. Deposee”. A black marble base supports this extraordinary mythological group.
The figure according to the famous French sculptor Claude Michel Clodion, made in the second half of the 20th century.
