Description

A Napoleon III-style sideboard, two-piece, with a glazed top section set on a wider and deeper base, topped with an apron at the bottom. The lower section is closed by a pair of doors decorated with inlays in the form of a bouquet of flowers, grasses, and cereals placed on a blackened field, and similar decorations on the front panel and sides, just like the top section. The upper section is glazed, with arched doors and a slightly protruding board at the top. The piece is also decorated with gilded bronze appliqués in the form of floral garlands, subtle trims on the doors and around both sides of the sideboard. The doors have locks and keys, one at the bottom, and three shelves at the top, lined with paper, as is the back.
Pine and walnut construction, veneered with walnut, inlays of various wood species, gilded bronze fittings, brass moldings, mid-19th century.
