“Skyscraper” table lamp, Romeo Rega

no 1195

Description

The “Skyscraper” table lamp is one of the most iconic and sought-after designs by Italian designer Romeo Rega, created in the mid-1970s. The design perfectly aligns with the Hollywood Regency and Art Deco aesthetics, combining the geometric austerity of modernism with luxurious finishes. The name and distinctive form of the lamp directly reference the American Art Deco skyscrapers that fascinated the designer.

The lamp’s base is crafted from thick, heavy brushed and polished brass. It consists of offset and stepped geometric blocks, giving it a sculptural, three-dimensional character. The lamp features a distinctive, wide, trapezoidal shade in dark bronze, finished with subtle brass profiles on the edges. These lamps originally left the factory with white or ivory shades.

Signature: The designer’s official brand was launched in late 1969 and operated until 1981. Original examples of this lamp are marked with an engraving or stamp reading “Romeo Rega MADE IN ITALY” on the metal base.

The lampshade has minor internal damage that does not affect its use.
