Description

A pair of porcelain vases with lids placed on bases. The body is slender at the bottom and widening above, decorated with hanging garlands of small flower buds and leaves. At the narrowed part at the top of the vases, in the form of four cupids, each in a different pose. Spout with a waved collar, turned outwards. The whole body is held in four narrow, porcelain handles that turn into slightly open legs at the bottom. At the top, there is an arched, openwork lid with a lifting cone in the middle. The whole is hand-painted with gold rocaill patterns.
Signed from the bottom underglaze with cobalt, the letter N with a crown. It is a mark of the porcelain manufactory Ernest Bohne & Sons Rudolstadt Volkstedt, Germany from 1901-1920.
Hand-painted and gilded porcelain. Traces of previous repairs.
