A large mantel clock with a figure of Calliope. On a massive monument, made of two types of marble, there is a figure of Calliope made of bronze. Between the figure and the base, a thin, black, uniform marble, in the shape of the base, in which two holes were drilled to attach the figure of the mythological muse. Base with bent and concave marbles, with a mechanism in the middle with a round marble dial, brass Roman numerals of the hours, closed by a glass door. A figure of Calliope of very high quality, carved in the smallest detail, sitting on a low bench, in a long tunic and with a laurel wreath on her head, holding a tablet and a stylus in her hands. She was one of the nine Greek Olympic muses, the highest placed, patron of the arts. A spring-loaded mechanism with a pendulum suspended on a plate, with a full and half-hour striking system and an original key, in good working order.

Mathurin Moreau, (born November 18, 1822 in Dijon, died February 14, 1912 in Paris) – French sculptor. He was initially taught the craft by his father Jean-Baptiste-Joseph Moreau, and from 1841 he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1848 he made his debut at the Salon with his sculpture Elegy. Thanks to his poetic, original style, he won many awards and medals at international exhibitions. His sculptures decorate churches Augustin, Trinite, Hotel de Ville, Opera House and City Hall in Paris.
