Description
A single-piece, longcase floor clock in a rectangular cabinet, with a slightly wider base with console legs. At the top with a glazed arched hood at the front, closed by a door with a key. On the sides, fluted and partially decorated with brass overlays, columns at the base and at the top topped with brass capitals. Below, a bent door at the top, with a lock and key. A weight-tensioned mechanism, adjustable pendulum, with a striking system, a second hand and date display, and a steel gong bowl. A round dial with marked Roman hour and Arabic minute blackened lines and a smaller seconds scale and date display. Above, a round plaque with engraving “Will. Clement London”. In the corners by the dial and around the plaque, openwork, brass plant applications. The clock mechanism is in working order, striking the full hours multiple times, winding key included.
Pine and mahogany construction, veneered with mahogany, brass strips and applications, 2nd half of the 18th century.
