Description
Mantel clock with a genre scene depicting a little boy and girl sneaking to see a salamander. The base features four massive, volute legs, decorated with rocaille patterns and floral branches. Above is a genre scene with space for the clock mechanism, and behind it is a tree with several branches. The spring-driven mechanism strikes the hours and half hours, with a pendulum suspended by a thread and a key included. The dial is enameled with blackened Roman numerals, a minute marker, and black hands.
The bronze and bronze gilded, partially polished, movement is in working order, signed Japy Frères, France, mid-19th century.
