Description
Vernis Martin console clock stands on four S-shaped legs adorned with bronze elements. It is closed at the front by a glazed round door with a side handle. Glass is also provided on both sides, and the back features a solid wooden door. The entire surface of the clock is a shade of dark green, decorated with colorful flowers, both single and arranged in garlands. The case is decorated with openwork gilded bronze applications in the form of floral tendrils and rocaille patterns, and features a bird figurine at the high finial, as well as at the bottom of the glass. The dial is enameled with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic minutes, with engraved bronze hands. The spring-powered mechanism strikes the hours and half-hours, and is in working order. The pendulum is suspended on a thread, the bell bowl is made of steel, and the key is included.
Polychrome wooden construction, bronze and gilded bronze fittings, (Switzerland?), late 18th century.
