no 584

Description

A baroque-style secretary desk with a body bulging at the front and curved front side edges. Console legs, slightly tilted outwards, straight at the back, constituting an extension of the furniture structure. At the bottom of the body there is a single pleated apron. There are three drawers at the front, the upper and lower ones with a convex face, the middle one with a concave face. All with a pair of drawing dies on the sides and an openwork key in the middle. Above, it is closed with a simple plate, which, when opened, rests on two retractable brackets with brass knobs placed on the sides. Inside, there is an open double tabernacle, with two drawers at the bottom, divided by vertical boards. On the sides, there are two rows of three drawers, all with drawers, and a zippered compartment in the middle. The furniture is inlaid on the entire surface with plant motifs – vases with bouquets of flowers, cornucopias and flower bouquets. On the sides of the secretary, the inlays are additionally framed with double fillet frames, and on the drawers – single ones. All drawers and the hinged flap have steel locks.
Oak construction, marquetry made of various types of wood, brass fittings, early 19th century.
Visible signs of previous renovations. The furniture is in good condition.
